To answer that, let me tell you a story about a man named Jacob.

Jacob lives in Creve Coeur Mo, and takes great pride in his beautiful home. After all, he worked hard for it (like you) and loves entertaining friends and relatives constantly. But Jacob is no dummy, and he is smart with his money (like you), so when he was looking for a professional cleaning company to make his home sparkle even more for the special occasion, he called around, received a few estimates, and decided to hire a company called “Cheapy Cleaning”, run by a friendly guy out of Lake St. Louis named Chad, since they had amazingly low prices. Jacob had received an estimate from Wall 2 Wall Cleaning Service, too, but Cheapy’s pricing was less than what Wall 2 Wall Cleaning Service had quoted him. Naturally, Jacob was proud of himself for finding such a great deal. On the following Wednesday, Cheapy Cleaning Company showed up at his home, as promised, at 8:00 am sharp. At approximately 8:13 am, Jacob’s heart sank.
One of Cheapy’s brand-new crew members had carelessly leaned a 32′ ladder beside Josef’s 2008 Mercedes E-Class, and as it fell with a horrifying crash, it shattered the windshield, destroying his hood and right fender on its way down. Thankfully, it didn’t hit any people. At the same moment in time, startled by the sound, Cheapy Cleaning Company employee number two lost his footing on the 24′ ladder he was climbing above the vestibule, and fell 9 feet onto Josef’s front cement porch, instantly fracturing his left tibia. Chad immediately called 911 and the paramedics whisked employee #2 away to Barnes Hospital. But the real pain was just about to begin for Jacob. Chad from Cheapy Window Cleaning soberly informed Jacob that in order to keep his costs down, he didn’t carry any sort of liability insurance, since it was simply too expensive. Secondly, since it was only Chad’s third year in business, and with no cash in hand, he couldn’t even begin to cover the $7,000+ damage that his crew member had caused to Jacob’s vehicle. Chad used the expression “you can’t get blood from a stone”. Thirdly, Chad explained that since he wasn’t reporting the wages of employee #2 (the worker who fell and broke his leg) the accident wasn’t covered by insurance, and since the worker was actually new in the country, and didn’t really have legal status yet, there might be a problem there, too.

Jacob’s nightmare had begun.

Here is the good news: The “Jacob” in this story is imaginary.

Here’s the bad news: This could happen to YOU in the real world.

Don’t risk your family’s peace of mind or your own sanity just to save a few bucks. It’s crazy, and just not worth the risk.

Insist that your professional cleaning company / contractor carry at least $1 mil in commercial liability insurance AS WELL AS workers compensation insurance so YOU are protected just in case someone gets injured. (we do)

And insist that they stand behind their work 100%. (without question)

Again, you deserve it. And you’ll love the results.
